CALDER INSTALLATION

SOFTWARES USED:

  • Rhino

  • Illustrator

  • Photoshop

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The ultimate goal of this project was to create an art exhibition for an Alexander Calder sculpture within the constraints of a site located at the University of Tennessee in the Art + Architecture Building. I formulated my design taking Calder’s artistic style into consideration and took inspiration for the materiality and form of my exhibition space. This space allows the user to circulate the sculpture, viewing it from multiple angles and also provides different nooks for more of his work to live.

LAMP EXPLORATION

SOFTWARES USED:

  • Rhino

  • Illustrator

  • Laser Cutter

  • Physical Model Making

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

I started the semester by creating charcoal drawings which inspired the form of my lamp. I utilized plexiglass and wood to create a layered effect and connected all the pieces together using 4 rectangular pieces with slots for the pieces to slide into. In the center, I placed a dowel to wrap the light strip around, creating the effect of the light showing between the pieces.

CITRUS X SINENSIS

SOFTWARES USED:

  • Rhino

  • Illustrator

  • Photoshop

  • Hand Drafting

  • Physical Model Making

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This project began by peeling an orange and then studying its organic form to shape our ideas. Next, we created objects in Rhino that displayed these ideas and then created a study model out of a chipboard. The next part of the project took place in groups. As a team, we created a city with existing buildings constructed out of chipboard and then created our own spaces out of basswood to create movement and connectivity throughout the city.
